Association of Los Angeles Physicians of Indian Origin (ALAPIO) has conducted another successful Free Surgery day on Nov 9th at Beverly Surgery Center in Beverly Hills CA.

ALAPIO was established in 2013 and since then is actively involved in healthcare education and community services.

ALAPIO conducts Continuous Medical Education for Physicians frequently. That program is approved by USC –Keck school of Medicine and Physicians attending gets CME credit for that. ALAPIO selects several Cutting edge topics for the CME program. Recently Dr. Neel Anand of Cedar Sinai Hospital gave a scintillating talk on modern advances in minimally invasive surgeries for spine diseases and for backache etc. The other interesting topic discussed few months back was “ Future of Healthcare in America” by Dr. Richard Boxer of UCLA and Senator Ed Hernandez from La Puente.

ALAPIO also participates in community health fares, wherever they are arranged. ALAPIO doctors of different specialties will volunteer and provide free services to community members who do not have inexpensive access to healthcare.

The Free Clinic and Free Surgery program is ALAPIO’s flagship achievement. Free clinic takes place in City of Downey every Thursday. So far ALAPIO physicians have seen 600 patients in the clinic at no cost to the patient.

When some of those patients from the free clinic needs surgery, ALAPIO arranges to have them done in Beverly Surgery Center every other month, once again at no cost to the patient.

ALAPIO believes that we need to give back in kind to the society which made us successful and what we are today. We also trying to make a statement that group of Indian doctors are compassionate, skilled, resourceful and grateful.
